A Living Sacrifice

Yesterday and last night I was trouble greatly with issues related to my family. Issues where there seems to be no ‘right’ answer and at the same time seemingly few options to begin with.  As I do when faced challenges and concerns enlisted the prayer support of others.  Shared my burden with them.  I did that here to in the ‘Prayer Request’ group as well.

This morning I’m preparing for worship (something that brings me great joy regardless of the trials about)  and what was handed to me from above?

Romans 12:1-2 (HCSB)

Therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, I urge you to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God; this is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.

I’m citing the verse out the Holman Christian Standard because their translation of what a lot of other versions refer to as ‘test’ just didn’t feel right  The context said understand or discern and in the HCS version it in fact uses that very word.

God works in our lives in the most amazing ways and that often is directly though his work.  This morning this passage speaks to my own personal trial going on related to this family matter. I’m claiming Gods promise here that if I turn myself over to him as a living sacrifice, that a continued transformation is going to be awaiting me.  ‘By renewing’ of my mind.  Clarity of thought…. so that I ‘May discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God’!!!!

Hallelujah!!!!! Right when I needed it most God provides the vision I need.  Is the answer clear to me yet for that family situation I face?  No.  But it is abundantly clear how I will find that ‘Good, pleasing, and perfect will of God’. Which is exactly what I was praying for, and asking others to pray for on my behalf.  Guidance from above for this earthly trouble!
