Forever! – 5/21/18

For All flesh is like grass, and all its glory like a flower of the grass. The grass withers, and the flower falls, but the word of the Lord endures forever. And this is the word that was preached as the gospel to you.

1 Peter 1:24-25 (HCSB)

Note from Kip…
We tend to think of someone living over a century as having a ‘long life’.

Have you ever considered that our lifetimes here on this earth are nothing more than a warm up for what is to come? Even 150 or 200 years does not even place a dot on the timeline of eternity.

We are eternal beings, make no mistake. With only a very small portion of our existence, occupying these fleshly bodies.

In relative terms, our lives are but a brief span of time in comparison to eternity.

But it this short span of time, in which we are given the free will to choose one of two destinies.

The first is to remain throughout eternity separated from God our creator. This  requires no effort on our part; it is after all the natural state we are born into. Each and every single man woman and child living, is destine from the beginning to be dying for eternity.

The other option is to embrace the one that created us. This has been made so very simple for us to do.  His name is Jesus Christ the Lord of Lords and the King of Kings.

We don’t have to make an appointment with Him or travel to any particular location to meet Him.  He comes to us no matter where we are, no matter what we’ve done, no matter out condition.

He come to us with open arms, but waiting for us to invite Him in to respond to His offer of redemption  and Grace, by surrendering our will to His and giving ourselves to Him.

So by Faith in Him, we accept His gifts; the first of which is directly linked to that eternity issue we are talking about; Salvation. We are redeemed from our lost condition, that each of us start out with, by believing in His Grace bestowed on us through His sacrifice for our guilt and sin on the Cross.

In doing so, we forego that natural state of separation from God, but assure ourselves of an eternity in God’s presence. This isn’t just a future event. At the moment that we surrender our lives fully to Jesus and accept His Grace and forgiveness; His Holy Spirit enters into us to abide with us.

Quite literally, God living in us! Directing, teaching, and protecting us; from that moment forward. To share an eternity with our Creator, beginning right at that very moment.

He is listening this very second, for you to tell him you believe in His promise and surrender you life to Him for all eternity. That by His blood you claim the freedom that comes with the release from the bondage of sin, placed on us by birth. Born again, into new life with Him forever more.

Where is your place in forever?

Now I urge you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree in what you say, that there be no divisions among you, and that you be united with the same understanding and the same conviction.

1 Corinthians 1:10 (HCSB)

Two are better than one because they have a good reward for their efforts. For if either falls, his companion can lift him up; but pity the one who falls without another to lift him up. Also, if two lie down together, they can keep warm; but how can one person alone keep warm? And if someone overpowers one person, two can resist him. A cord of three strands is not easily broken.

Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 (HCSB)

I assure you: Unless a grain of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains by itself. But if it dies, it produces a large crop., The one who loves his life will lose it, and the one who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. If anyone serves Me, he must follow Me. Where I am, there My servant also will be. If anyone serves Me, the Father will honor him.

John 12:24-26 (HCSB)

Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone wants to come with Me, he must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow Me.

Matthew 16:24 (HCSB)

Jesus answered, “I assure you: Unless someone is born of water and the Spirit,, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. Whatever is born of the flesh is flesh, and whatever is born of the Spirit is spirit.

John 3:5-6 (HCSB)

For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us, so that whether we are awake or asleep, we will live together with Him. Therefore encourage one another and build each other up as you are already doing.

1 Thessalonians 5:9-11 (HCSB)

For we know the One who has said, Vengeance belongs to Me, I will repay,, and again, The Lord will judge His people., It is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God!

Hebrews 10:30-31 (HCSB)
