Serve – 5/22/18

For you were called to be free, brothers; only don’t use this freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but serve one another through love. For the entire law is fulfilled in one statement: Love your neighbor as yourself.

Galatians 5:13-14 (HCSB)

Note from Kip…
The theme of love is more predominate in the Bible than any other topic. There is a reason for that.

Our very existence is a result of God’s Love. Knowing full well what kind of trouble we would be for Him and just how we would disappoint Him over and over again, He loved us so to breath life into mankind; creating a living soul.

Not only something that lived, but something that could live with Him forever.

Love drove the sacrifice of Jesus for us on the Cross.

And it is love that will usher us into the heavenly gates when our time here is completed.

We are to Love as Christ loves us. That is likely our most difficult task, because it isn’t in our nature to love at that level or even approaching it.  But we can, and will if we surrender complete control to His will and nothing less.  His love, He pours out on us, will flow from us to those about us.

It is perhaps the solitary purpose for us being here. To show His Love and provide the light for others to find their way down the path we walk with Him.

Don’t be deceived: God is not mocked. For whatever a man sows he will also reap, because the one who sows to his flesh will reap corruption from the flesh, but the one who sows to the Spirit will reap eternal life from the Spirit.

Galatians 6:7-8 (HCSB)

You will certainly wear out both yourself and these people who are with you, because the task is too heavy for you. You can’t do it alone.

Exodus 18:18 (HCSB)

Note from Kip…
I personally enjoy my solitude. I like being to myself and doing things, but regardless of the time that I spend with myself in my thoughts and efforts, I find that as I join with others to complete tasks a different yet equally rewarding joy unfolds.

More is accomplished because of the team work involved. There is comfort in sharing the load and reward of a task accomplished.

The father in law of Moses told Moses, ‘Son you’re going to hurt yourself and you’re hurting others but not allowing them to participate in the effort’.  Yes, I know I paraphrased a bit, but I really need to seek forgiveness at times because I keep the work to myself. Which is pure foolishness, because and few extra sets of hands makes the work go faster and smoother. While at the same time, all benefit from the effort.

My dearly loved brothers, understand this: Everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger, for man’s anger does not accomplish God’s righteousness. Therefore, ridding yourselves of all moral filth and evil, humbly receive the implanted word, which is able to save you.,

But be doers of the word and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.

James 1:19-22 (HCSB)

I lift my eyes toward the mountains.
Where will my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.
He will not allow your foot to slip; your Protector will not slumber.

Psalms 121:1-3 (HCSB)

From ancient times no one has heard, no one has listened, no eye has seen any God except You, who acts on behalf of the one who waits for Him.

Isaiah 64:4 (HCSB)

For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life — a ransom for many.

Mark 10:45 (HCSB)

Pay careful attention, then, to how you walk — not as unwise people but as wise — making the most of the time,, because the days are evil.

So don’t be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. And don’t get drunk with wine, which leads to reckless actions, but be filled by the Spirit: speaking to one another in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing and making music from your heart to the Lord, giving thanks always for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, submitting to one another in the fear of Christ.

Ephesians 5:15-21 (HCSB)

Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses every thought, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:6-7 (HCSB)

Therefore, since we have been declared righteous by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. We have also obtained access through Him by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God.

And not only that, but we also rejoice in our afflictions, because we know that affliction produces endurance, endurance produces proven character, and proven character produces hope.

This hope will not disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

Romans 5:1-5 (HCSB)

God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.

John 4:24 (HCSB)
