Good Seeks Light!
“All who do evil hate the light and refuse to go near it for fear their sins will be exposed. But those who do what is right come to the light so others can see that they are doing what God wants. ”
John 3:20-21 (NLT)
Note from Kip…
Jesus tells us very clearly the choices we make. When we have sinister motivations, we seek to hide those things.
It’s my life!
Keep it on the Q.T.
Stay out of my business!
What they don’t know won’t hurt them.
But it does hurt us!
Shuffling into dark corners. Covering up things we don’t care to have seen. Avoiding exposure at any cost.
What if that cost is your very soul?
For what does it benefit a man to gain the whole world yet lose his life?
Mark 8:36 (HCSB)
There is a cost to darkness. While this is true when you are contrasting a life redeemed by the Blood of Jesus Christ verse the one that chooses to disregard that gift; what I’m wanting us to see is that even for those who have given their lives to Christ; to wallow in darkness only costs us.
Sure, Jesus forgives. His cleansing is complete for the repentant. But if you continue to do those things which disgrace the name of ‘Christian’, have you truly repented? That is the big question.
“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord!’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of My Father in heaven. On that day many will say to Me, ‘Lord, Lord, didn’t we prophesy in Your name, drive out demons in Your name, and do many miracles in Your name?’ Then I will announce to them, ‘I never knew you! Depart from Me, you lawbreakers!’”
Matthew 7:21-23 (HCSB)
We deceive ourselves
You pore over the Scriptures because you think you have eternal life in them, yet they testify about Me. And you are not willing to come to Me so that you may have life.
John 5:39-40 (HCSB)
Saying the words. Praying the prayer. None of that matters if the heart isn’t changed. We’ve emerged from a period of time when it was fashionable to be a believer.
I say that we have come out of that period, because today people talk of their rebellion from God in open defiance. When we have closed our mind to the truth then the darkness overwhelms us.
Because you say, ‘I’m rich; I have become wealthy and need nothing,’ and you don’t know that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind, and naked, I advise you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire so that you may be rich, white clothes so that you may be dressed and your shameful nakedness not be exposed, and ointment to spread on your eyes so that you may see.
As many as I love, I rebuke and discipline. So be committed and repent.
Listen! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and have dinner with him, and he with Me.
Revelation 3:17-20 (HCSB)
Some have heard the knock at the door of their hearts and opened it. Allowing Christ to come in and commune with them. They’ve past from darkness into light.
Others have heard the knocking an blocked it out of their minds, because it is just too much for them to conceive of a life where they are not in control. Sadly, they never were in control and aren’t right now.
Still others, allowed Jesus in at one point but then slowly extinguished every candle in their sprit because they were uncomfortable with the sin that they couldn’t hide in the light, but they failed to yield to the Savior so they yield to the flesh.
Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith. Examine yourselves. Or do you yourselves not recognize that Jesus Christ is in you? — unless you fail the test.
2 Corinthians 13:5 (HCSB)
Self examination is the key. Look inwardly to what our motivations are. Do we hear the Sprit of God interacting with us through our days, or is that something foreign to us?
These times God calls to His people to step into the light. To be His messengers of the Gospel to the world in these times that appear to be drawing to the end when He is coming to claim His Bride.
Are you ready? Will you be ready. Why not today? Why not now?
But to all who did receive Him, He gave them the right to be children of God, to those who believe in His name, who were born, not of blood, or of the will of the flesh, or of the will of man, but of God.
John 1:12-13 (HCSB Strong’s)
