I learned a new word today; hokum. I guess maybe I’ve heard it bantered about from time to time. I never was interested enough to investigate the meaning of the word or to even determine if it was actually a real word.
Hokum is nonsense, or contrived content.
Most of us will admit we live in dangerous times.
One disagreement between world leaders and the earth as we know it could be effectively reduced to ashes. To what purpose? Just the people of different nations saying my gun is bigger than your gun and even if it isn’t, I’m still going to show you who’s going to pay the price and it isn’t going to be me!
The goal of rogue nations is to acquire the means to join in with this madness. Consistently you have to come back to the question of why? What is the endgame? What is gained by destroying everything? And what point do you prove even in you do manage to survive?
But when I say we live in dangerous times; I’m not reflecting on the nuclear struggle we have bubbling just below the surface worldwide.
Where I sense even a more dangerous game being played is with the souls of humanity.
“Don’t be afraid of those who want to kill your body; they cannot touch your soul. Fear only God, who can destroy both soul and body in hell.”
Matthew 10:28 (NLT)
Yes, we could be subject to a massive atomic attack at any moment and in that moment our lives ended. But that isn’t the thing we need to be focused on. We should be focused on repenting from our sins and subjecting ourselves to the authority of Jesus Christ; now, without hesitation.
At issue, however, is the fact that more church pulpits than I care to think of, have disregarded God’s authority and his role in the future outcome of not just this world, but each of us individually, and collectively.
The massive volume of false teaching that is taking place in this day and time is staggering. Popular ‘Christian’ contemporary groups both sponsored by or aligned with false teachers across the globe draw in massive numbers of the faithful to sit at the feet of the unfaithful message their puppet masters espouse.
Churches everywhere are popularizing their message so as to reach larger and larger groups of people. The problem with this attempt to make the Gospel palatable to more people is the fact that IT IS NOT THE GOSPEL, once they have twisted it to meet their objectives.
There is only one true Gospel and the rest are false gospels that seek only to divert the millions away from the Truth and Life of the Gospel to a cheap imitation which will only lead to destruction.
If any church or organization preaches anything counter to the fact that there is only one path to redemption, and that path is through the blood of Jesus Christ! It is only when we subject ourselves to his authority that we can and will be saved.
There is salvation in no one else! God has given no other name under heaven by which we must be saved.
Acts 4:12 (NLT)
That name is Jesus Christ!
Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor and gave him the name above all other names, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Philippians 2:9-11 (NLT)
This is not about the doctrinal differences that exist within the Body of Christ. We can and will have differences until we stand before the throne of the Master. In the meantime we all should be united under one flag and that flag was hung on a cross by man who was called the Messiah, Son of the Living God, Prince of Peace, and who is the GREAT I AM!
It is only by his grace that we can be saved, the grace that he purchased for us with his life.
There is no other name under heaven that one can be saved!
The rest of that garbage gospel out there is “Hokum”!
In the Grace of Jesus!
