In the face of evidence…

July 21sth, 2019

While I accept the scripture as the inspired Word of God, in faith, I take every bit of it at its word, I am still mesmerized by the consistent archeological evidence coming to light that confirms what the scriptures have stated well before the discoveries were made.

I was just listening to the program “The Land and The Book” on Moody radio and heard another account of a recent find. Golden scrolls etched with reference to scripture, rolled up so very small and tight that they could be worn as jewelry about the neck. These were buried with their owner and when they finally were able to unroll the scroll and read the text, it quoted the content in Numbers 25:13.

There have been those who doubt the validity of the Bible being the inspired Word of God. To that point, they would claim that Moses didn’t write this passage in Numbers, instead they want to convince us it was written in the time of the minor prophets by someone else.

As I pondered this new discovery which was yet another piece of evidence in support of the viability of the scriptures, I was saddened by the stark reality that so many people today despite evidence of the truth of God’s Word choose to believe speculative theories that simply can’t be proven.

The more we learn about quantum mechanics the more we realize that none of this happened by accident. Chaos never evolves into order; chaos only devolves into more chaos.

Since they thought it foolish to acknowledge God, he abandoned them to their foolish thinking and let them do things that should never be done. Their lives became full of every kind of wickedness, sin, greed, hate, envy, murder, quarreling, deception, malicious behavior, and gossip.

Romans 1:28-29 (NLT)

Reflecting on this passage, you can’t help but realize we are at that point in society today. It doesn’t seem to matter what culture you are focused on; the entire earth is facing a reprobation of truth for a lie that permits them to do what they find pleasure in; rather than pleasure in the things they know they should be doing.

The world as we know it, doesn’t have much time left.

We as disciples of Jesus have even more incentive to reach as many with the Good News of the Gospel as soon as possible. Absolutely for those we love and care for but for everyone, because Jesus made it clear we are not to restrict the boundaries of the message. He literally told us to take it to every nation.

At the judgement call no one is going to be blindsided by Jesus Christ being Lord of all.

Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor and gave him the name above all other names, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Philippians 2:9-11 (NLT)

We are approaching a sea change, where the rule of the devil on earth will be brought to a resounding close and earth itself will be utterly destroyed. In its place a new heaven and a new earth established where God will rule and live with his people.

People from every land and every nation.

But to get there, we have to go through this period, of hardened disbelief.

Regardless, though this sounds nearly hopeless, the Holy Spirit goes with us in our witness to the lost and will prepare the hearts of those we testify to of the Gospel of Jesus and how He has transformed our lives through His grace.

For his Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God’s children.

Romans 8:16 (NLT)

Despite how hopeless the mission appears to us; we must not rely on our understanding or perception of the way things appear. God sees beyond the train wreck of humanity and to an everlasting relationship with those who surrender their lives to Him.

But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. They are reborn—not with a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan, but a birth that comes from God.

John 1:12-13 (NLT)

We are the messengers that are to deliver this Good News to every man woman and child. This is the very reason we are here, we don’t have to convince them, or win the scientific argument, we just have to present the Gospel of Jesus and our story of how He has made a change in our lives.

Our transformation from death to life is something that is irrefutable evidence in the face of bigoted resistance. Besides, just as with our prayers we have the Holy Spirit that will be doing some talking to their heart at the same time.

This is what the Lord says: “I will go before you, Cyrus, and level the mountains. I will smash down gates of bronze and cut through bars of iron.”

Isaiah 45:2 (NLT)

The Holy Spirit is giving us more than enough power to combat the powers of “Disbelief”.
