Living free…

We all have enemies. Like it or not, that is just the way things are laid out in this bubble of space-time.

The creator created, for a purpose. His enemy the devil seeks to destroy that which God has created in perfection, by introducing sin, decay, and corruption into that perfect creation. Scripture tells us clearly that this war is ongoing. It started back in ‘the beginning’ and will continue until the final judgement.

We know this because God said it was so.

We do not have to be entangled in it, just because we have been subjected to the corruption of this world and the sin that pervades it’s every corner. God has made a way of escape for us.

Once again you will have compassion on us. You will trample our sins under your feet and throw them into the depths of the ocean!

Micah 7:19 (NLT)

Consistently, we who abide under the grace of Jesus see compassion poured out on us, despite our failures. The Lord crushes our sins and then discards them from his sight. He doesn’t simply cross it off our list of infractions, He obliterates them, and then permanently removes them.

The term “Forgive and Forget”, yeah, that is God.

There is a condition related to this forgiveness; faith.

This faith isn’t just a casual ‘oh I believe that to be true’. This faith that Jesus calls for, is the kind of thing where even though we don’t see our way ahead, even when it appears to be an abyss which we are about to step off in to. Despite what appears to our senses as the impossible, this faith allows us to step over what we perceive as the edge, and onto that transparent support which is the grace of Jesus Christ.

This faith which will move mountains, demands our investment in trust that Jesus blood covers all and He provides all our needs in accordance to His Fathers riches in heaven.

And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:19 (NLT)

This faith is one in which regardless of the twists and turns, we will take up our cross and follow, because following is what He calls us to; following Him.

Our Enemy

Because this conflict is taking place before us, we are divided among the combatants. There is no neutral position we can cling to in the middle.  This is a binary designation. We either side with the Creator, or we are an ally of the devil.

Therefore, when we fail and Satan throws it in our face that we are not good enough for God to love us, we can show him that God loves us so much, that He sacrificed His Son, so sin might not be held to account on our souls. We are not under the bondage of sin; we are free!

If you are a follower of Jesus Christ, Satan is going to do all he can to deceive you with his lies and discourage you as much as possible.

When we sin, and inevitably we will sin, he will tell us that we are unworthy of a role in God’s kingdom. He will even suggest that God couldn’t possibly use us.

But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness. If we claim we have not sinned, we are calling God a liar and showing that his word has no place in our hearts.

1 John 1:9-10 (NLT)

God knows we are living in the flesh and we are prone to failure due to the corruption of sin, but if we are honest with God about our sin and confess it to him, he is “faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.” Therefore, this claim of the devil is as bogus as it gets!

In fact, if we were to say we do not have sin in us, “we are calling God a liar and showing that his word has no place in our hearts.

God fully understands we are sinners and that the only thing that makes us worthy of His righteousness is the Grace of His Son!

The other favorite lie of the enemy is that we are too weak to accomplish what God directs us to.

A favorite saying, I keep handy in the back of my mind is “If God leads you to it, He will bring you through it” While it’s not scripture, it is truth!

God doesn’t have an expectation that we can accomplish anything without His assistance. In fact, He wants us to call on Him for assistance and/or intervention in everything.

“Keep alert at all times. And pray that you might be strong enough to escape these coming horrors and stand before the Son of Man.”

Luke 21:36 (NLT)

But we go back to that issue of faith, need to ask in faith.

“You can pray for anything, and if you have faith, you will receive it.”

Matthew 21:22 (NLT)

So as the devil tries to trample us in our walk with the Lord, remember the Lord has done some trampling of His own, in relation to our sin. And not only has he crushed them under foot he has discarded them out of His sight, and he will remember them no more.

I—yes, I alone—will blot out your sins for my own sake and will never think of them again

Isaiah 43:25 (NLT)

Our sins are so far removed from us it is the equivalent of an infinite separation from us and our past sin.

He has removed our sins as far from us as the east is from the west

Psalms 103:12 (NLT)

Our sin “Trampled” and forgotten, so we can experience the freedom of grace active in our lives every day.
